Answers to the questions we hear most about Fluent Wine Company, our wines and how to find them.

What wines does Fluent make?

Two wines, each from a single vineyard: Glass Cat Sauvignon Blanc, 100% Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc from the Panek Vineyard in St. Helena, and Fluent Rosé, a California Rosé of Cabernet Sauvignon from the Harden Family Vineyard in Lodi. Both are picked and pressed by hand and made in small lots.

Who makes Fluent?

Fluent Wine Company was founded in St. Helena in 2018 by Rob Harrison, who spent more than twenty years in Napa Valley hospitality, much of it at Meadowood. The winemaker is Joe Harden, a UC Davis graduate who led Bordeaux style luxury wines at Mondavi. His family farms the Harden Family Vineyard in Lodi, the source of Fluent Rosé.

How long will Glass Cat age?

Glass Cat is released two years after harvest. It opens three to four years after harvest and ages gracefully for ten to fifteen years.

Why is Glass Cat sold as a set of three bottles?

Each vintage of Glass Cat carries three different label drawings: the vineyard, the cellar and the table. The three bottles are released together as a set.

Where does the name Glass Cat come from?

In L. Frank Baum’s Land of Oz, a magician brings a glass cat to life. It is transparent but for a ruby heart, and it roams the world cool, reserved and well aware of its own qualities. The wine shares its temperament.

What have critics said about Glass Cat?

Decanter’s Jonathan Cristaldi rated the 2023 Glass Cat 94 points and the 2022 Glass Cat 93 points. Glass Cat was also featured in Wine Enthusiast’s article on Napa and Sonoma winemakers making luxury Sauvignon Blanc.

What is Fluent Rosé made from?

Cabernet Sauvignon grown for Rosé at the Harden Family Vineyard in Lodi and picked early. It sees skin contact, is barrel fermented and aged in neutral French oak, in the Provençal style: pale, dry and textured, at 11% alcohol.

How should I serve Glass Cat, and what does it pair with?

Serve it between 50 and 55 degrees; much colder closes down the aromatics. It is a natural partner for goat cheese, triple cream cheese, oysters, simply prepared seafood, branzino and pork.

How can I buy Fluent wine?

Fluent is released twice a year, in Spring and Fall. Club members receive every release first. What remains is offered to the Allocation List in the order requests were received. Join the Club or request an allocation, and current releases are available in the shop.

Where do you ship?

Fluent ships to nearly every state. Where we hold our own direct shipping licenses, we ship to you ourselves; in the other states, orders go out through a licensed third party fulfillment partner. Utah and Pennsylvania sell wine through the state, so there you order Fluent as a special order through the state’s website.

Can I visit for a tasting?

Tastings are by appointment only. To request one, write to wine@fluentwine.com or call 707.564.3800. The tasting fee is $125 per person, waived with purchase. Club members taste free after their first year in the Club.
